Vibe Magazine Shut Down

Vibe magazine is closing immediately, a spokeswoman said Tuesday. In a memo to staff members announcing the closure, Steve Aaron, chief
of the Vibe Media Group, wrote that for months, the company tried in
vain to either find new investors or “to restructure the huge debt on
our small company.”

To think, after starting out as a print magazine 17 years ago, ths hip-hop culture mag would find themselves reporting the death of Michael Jackson as their own requim.

As a purely online website vibextreme.com would like to officially announce, again (since, they tried to sue us a few years ago for thinking that in some way our two websites were alike and demanded we publicize the fact that we are not the same), we are not vibe.com and we will not be closing like vibe.com.  Though we are, as would be many, interested in the domain name (which is expires 19-apr-2011).

So as vibe.com is gone, and we remain, let's take a trip down memory lane:

Vibe online magazine debuts in 1996:

We wish the employees of Vibe the best, and hope their is still room for them in this recession riddled economy.
